Wellcome to my hobby page, once in a while I feel like putting some MSX related stuff on this site. Have fun with it!

This is a cute MSX1, I bought it at a fleemarket a long time ago. I like it because of it's shape and colored keys :) When I was looking at the mainboard, I saw the proof that it was designed by japanese! Take a good look at the picture... After that I wanted to run the Lyra demo, so I connected my external diskdrive. But the drive didn't work anymore :(

Maybe I can use my laptop as a datarecorder, I should have a cable somewhere. Maybe I'll try that later, or maybe I should fix the diskdrive...
Just look at that design... why can't they make computers like that anymore!

Today I got this beautifull MSX2+. Ever since I read the review in (dutch) MSX-Gids in 1989 (?), I wanted to have it. But it was really expensive... not anymore!!! So now I have one :) To clean it I had to open it and found a remarkable mainboard. Just take a look at the pictures. It has extra wires and changes on the bottom side, I wonder if that was done by a japanese user, or if it was done by Sony. Some other nice fact is the Mitsumi diskdrive in this Sony machine ;)

I hope I can easily extend the memory. At least it has a memory mapper, and the S1985 supports 512kb. So in theory it should be possible to add a few ram chips and connect some wires to the S1985 to get it working... on the other hand, it would be a shame to start soldering on this thing.
Update: I just found out that the memory mapper pins of the S1985 aren't used at all. I think Sony made it's own mapper logic.

2004-08-21 Sunrise IDE interface

Long time ago I bought one of the first Sunrise IDE interfaces. But nowadays everybody uses Compact Flash... and I wanted that too! So I got myself an IDE to CF adapter and put it on the IDE interface. Works great!

It's nice to receive a package, but it's even better when it's from Japan! This is the coolest MSX2 I have ever seen. Too bad that the cover is damaged. Still it looks very cool with the red plastic!

The hardware itself is not very special, not even a memory mapper! So lot's of (european) software doesn't even work. But hey, who wants to run software on it anyway...
